“Cave of Bones” reminds us of the archaeological magnificence of the Cradle of Humankind.

Netflix has started streaming the much-anticipated Cave of Bones documentary that tells the remarkable story of the discovery of Homo naledi in 2013 in the Cradle of Humankind.

It is a wonderful tale of discovery and paleoanthropological sleuthing, beautifully filmed and well narrated. At times the film rolls like a thriller, illuminating a profound series of scientific discoveries that ask fundamental questions about our human origins and that blur the boundaries of what we used to think distinguished us as humans.

Watch the film if you can. I found it riveting.

Original Safaris leads a half-day Human Origins Tour in the heart of the Cradle, 40 minutes north of Johannesburg. It is a magical journey of discovery that echoes the findings and questions raised by the documentary. It walks you in the footsteps of our ancestors and reveals glimpses of our origin story.
