We curate unique journeys

OriginSafaris is a specialist tour operator that focuses exclusively on Archaeology Safaris – magical journeys that blend South Africa’s iconic archaeology and deep history with its extraordinary wildlife and natural beauty.

Join us on carefully crafted safaris to retrace our origin story while exploring South Africa’s most vibrant, wild and captivating regions.

Our destinations combine some of South Africa’s most important archeological sites with the magnificent wildlife that the country is famous for.  Each destination offers fully-catered luxury accommodation a short game drive away from the archaeological sites that anchor our tours.

We have partnered with Return Africa, the Cradle Riverhorse Lodge and Verlorenkloof Lodge and Private Nature Reserve to design, accommodate and guide our journeys. The sites we visit are only accessible by appointment with us and our partner lodges. Specialist guides will lead you through the stories that lie buried within each of the sites we visit.

Operating from Cape Town and Johannesburg, OriginSafaris focuses principally on three of South Africa’s most exquisite but little-known archaeological sites: the Cradle of Humankind, Thulamela and Bokoni – and the wildlife reserves that host them: the Kruger National Park, the Cradle Nature Reserve and the Verlorenkloof Private Nature Reserve.

Our itineraries are customized around the interests and circumstances of our guests. These range from short-duration, single destination stays to multiple destination safaris which may include visits to other archaeology safari destinations such as the Mapungubwe National Park.

Using both scheduled and private air transfers, travel between our destinations is seamless.

We accommodate self-drive travelers and can organize guided overland trips between all our destinations. All destinations are accessible by sedan vehicles on hard-top roads.
